Two people are dead following what Peel Regional Police are describing as a "targeted" shooting on school grounds in Brampton late Friday night. Police say officers were called to the area of Rutherford Road and Weybridge Trail, near David Suzuki Secondary School, at approximately 10:23 p.m. on April 4, 2026.

Upon arrival, officers located two male victims with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released their identities, pending notification of next of kin. Investigators have stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety, believing the shooting was an isolated, targeted incident.

The Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau has taken over the investigation. The school grounds were closed for the weekend as police conducted their investigation. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information, dashcam, or video footage from the area around the time of the shooting.
