The Ts'il Kaz Koh First Nation (Burns Lake Band) and the Village of Burns Lake are jointly developing a comprehensive recreational plan for the Magee area, located between the two communities. The initiative aims to create a shared hub for outdoor activities and community use.
According to a joint statement, the project's vision includes potential amenities such as trails, campgrounds, and sports facilities. The planning process is intended to strengthen the partnership between the local government and the First Nation while addressing shared recreational needs.
The collaboration follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in late 2025, which formalized the commitment to co-develop the land. Community engagement sessions are planned to gather input from residents on both sides.
Local leaders have stated that the project is in its early planning stages, with feasibility studies and detailed designs yet to be completed. The development is seen as a long-term investment in community wellness and regional cooperation.
