Edmunds' data shows that the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid was the most common vehicle traded in for a Tesla in 2025, but also that many Tesla owners are now choosing Toyota hybrids as their next vehicle. This trend suggests a growing interest in the convenience and reliability of hybrid powertrains without the range anxiety associated with pure electric vehicles.
While Tesla remains a dominant force in the EV market, the appeal of Toyota's established hybrid lineup, including the Prius and RAV4, appears to be drawing some consumers back. Edmunds notes that factors such as lower upfront costs, extensive dealer networks, and proven long-term reliability are key drivers for this shift.
