A Toronto plastic surgeon, Dr. Martin Jugenburg, known online as Dr. 6ix, has been ordered to pay $22.5 million to former patients after a court found he filmed them without consent using surveillance cameras installed at his clinic. The ruling was issued on May 28, 2026, by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
The class-action lawsuit, filed on behalf of hundreds of patients, alleged that Jugenburg installed hidden cameras in examination rooms and other areas of his clinic, capturing patients in various states of undress. The court found that the surgeon violated the patients' privacy and trust, leading to the substantial damages award.
Jugenburg, who gained fame on social media for his cosmetic surgery procedures, had previously faced disciplinary action from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. In 2020, he was reprimanded for posting patient videos online without consent. The latest ruling marks one of the largest privacy-related settlements in Canadian medical history.
