Spanish authorities have uncovered a third tunnel in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, used by drug traffickers to smuggle hashish from Morocco. The discovery was made during a joint operation by the Spanish National Police and the Civil Guard, according to reports from June 2026.
The tunnel, which was still under construction, was located in the border area near the Tarajal neighborhood. It was equipped with lighting and ventilation systems, indicating a sophisticated operation. Police seized several tons of hashish and arrested multiple suspects in connection with the smuggling ring.
This is the third such tunnel found in Ceuta in recent years, highlighting the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in the region. The previous tunnels were discovered in 2020 and 2023, each used to transport large quantities of cannabis resin.
Authorities have increased surveillance and border controls to prevent further smuggling attempts. The investigation remains ongoing, with police working to dismantle the criminal network behind the operation.
