Hamilton police announced Sunday night that a 14-year-old male suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of another teenager at Jackson Square mall has surrendered. The suspect turned himself in, one day after the incident.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Jackson Square mall in downtown Hamilton. The victim, also a teenager, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim's name pending family notification.
Investigators said the suspect is facing charges including second-degree murder. The arrest came after a public appeal for information. Police confirmed the suspect acted alone and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
