Authorities have arrested a 14-year-old in connection with an alleged extortion scheme conducted through TikTok, according to police reports. The teenager is accused of threatening to release compromising material unless victims paid money.
Investigators say the suspect sent threatening messages to multiple victims, demanding payment to prevent the release of private content. One message reportedly read, "I have your photos, pay me or I'll post them."
The arrest was made after a joint investigation by local police and cybercrime units. The suspect faces charges of extortion and harassment. Due to the suspect's age, the case will be handled in juvenile court.
Authorities urge parents to monitor their children's online activity and report any suspicious interactions. TikTok has not yet commented on the incident.
