Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo joined local children in Gaborone on Friday, May 1, 2026, for a special Kids' Athletics Day activation on the eve of the Debswana World Athletics Relays Gaborone 26. The event aimed to inspire young athletes and promote athletics in Botswana.
Held in Tebogo's home country, the activation was part of World Athletics' global Kids' Athletics program, which introduces children to track and field through fun, age-appropriate activities. Tebogo, who made history as Botswana's first Olympic gold medalist, participated in drills and games with the children.
The World Athletics Relays are scheduled to take place in Gaborone from May 2-3, 2026, marking the first time the event is held in Africa. The relays serve as a qualification event for the World Athletics Championships.
