Mehdi Tazi and Mohamed Bachiri were officially elected to lead the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) on May 14, 2026, during the ordinary elective general assembly. The duo secured 3,773 votes out of 4,123 cast, according to official results.
The election marks a new chapter for the CGEM, Morocco's leading employers' organization. Tazi and Bachiri ran on a platform focused on economic recovery, digital transformation, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Their victory was confirmed by the CGEM's electoral commission, which reported a voter turnout of over 90% among eligible members. The new leadership is expected to serve a three-year term, succeeding the previous team led by Chakib Alj.
In their first statements, Tazi and Bachiri emphasized the need for public-private partnership to boost investment and job creation in Morocco. They also pledged to enhance the CGEM's role in advocating for business-friendly reforms.
