ARUSHA β Beef exports from Tanzania have increased by more than 1,100 tonnes following the implementation of the National Livestock Vaccination and Identification Programme, according to the Acting Officer in Charge of the Northern Zone Veterinary Investigation Centre.
The programme, launched last year, aims to improve animal health and traceability, which has boosted confidence among international buyers. The increase in exports reflects the success of the vaccination drive in reducing livestock diseases.
While specific figures for total export volumes were not disclosed, the rise of over 1,100 tonnes marks a significant milestone for the country's livestock sector. The programme is part of broader efforts to modernize Tanzania's agricultural industry.
Officials say the initiative also supports food security and economic growth by enhancing the quality and marketability of Tanzanian beef in regional and international markets.
