Chennai student Vaageesan V.V. has been inundated with phone calls after his personal number was accidentally displayed in the Tamil film 'Amaran', which released in October 2024. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, is a biographical war drama based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan.
According to reports, Vaageesan's number appeared during a romantic scene in the movie, leading to hundreds of calls and messages from curious fans. The student, who is pursuing a degree in Chennai, said the calls started shortly after the film's release and have continued for months.
Vaageesan told local media that he initially thought it was a prank but soon realized the scale of the issue. He has appealed to the filmmakers to remove or blur the number in future screenings and digital releases to prevent further harassment.
The incident highlights the unintended consequences of using real phone numbers in films without proper verification. As of June 2026, the filmmakers have not publicly commented on the matter.
