Stellantis has unveiled its E-Car project, aiming to produce affordable electric vehicles (EVs) with a starting price under €25,000 by 2027. The initiative targets mass-market adoption, leveraging the company's multi-brand strategy including Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat.
According to a company press release on May 18, 2026, the E-Car platform will use a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery technology to reduce costs by up to 30% compared to current models. Production is planned at plants in France and Italy, with an initial annual capacity of 500,000 units.
CEO Carlos Tavares stated, 'Our goal is to make electric mobility accessible to everyone, not just premium buyers.' The first model, expected in early 2027, will be a compact hatchback with a range of approximately 350 km (217 miles).
