Morocco's aquaculture production capacity has reached approximately 90,000 tons annually, Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries Zakia Driouch announced on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, during the board of directors meeting of the National Agency for Aquaculture Development (ANDA).
Driouch highlighted that this milestone reflects the sector's growth under the national aquaculture development strategy, which aims to boost production, create jobs, and ensure sustainable resource management. The meeting reviewed ANDA's achievements and future plans, including the expansion of aquaculture farms along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts.
The announcement underscores Morocco's commitment to enhancing food security and economic diversification through aquaculture, which has seen increased investment in recent years. The sector now contributes significantly to the country's fisheries output, with species such as sea bass, sea bream, and oysters being farmed.
