Stellantis officially launched industrial production of the Fiat Grizzly and Fiat Fastback at its Kenitra plant in Morocco on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The two SUVs are built on the new Smart Car platform, according to company statements.
The Fiat Grizzly is a compact SUV designed for the African market, while the Fastback is a coupe-style SUV. Both models are part of Stellantis's strategy to expand its presence in emerging markets.
The Kenitra plant, which opened in 2019, has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Stellantis has invested over €300 million in the facility, which also produces the Peugeot 208 and other models.
This launch is expected to create additional jobs and boost local automotive supply chains. Stellantis aims to increase local sourcing to 80% by 2028.
