Spanish authorities have dismantled a criminal network in the autonomous city of Ceuta, with several police officers among those arrested for allegedly facilitating large-scale hashish trafficking. The investigation, named Operation Hades, was led by the Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police.

According to judicial sources cited by Spanish media, the officers are accused of providing protection and logistical support to the drug trafficking organization. Their alleged actions included escorting drug shipments and using police resources to warn traffickers of checkpoints and surveillance.

The network reportedly operated by transporting hashish from Morocco into Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa, before moving it to mainland Spain and other European countries. The investigation suggests the corruption allowed the group to operate with significant impunity for an extended period.

The arrests highlight ongoing challenges with corruption and drug smuggling in Ceuta, a key transit point for narcotics entering Europe. The Spanish Interior Ministry has emphasized its commitment to rooting out corruption within law enforcement agencies.
