The South Dakota FFA Association has announced the District Star Greenhands for 2026, recognizing outstanding first-year FFA members across eight districts. The award honors students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, agricultural skills, and academic achievement in their first year of FFA membership.
According to the South Dakota FFA website, the District Star Greenhands were selected based on their supervised agricultural experience (SAE) projects, FFA involvement, and scholastic records. Each district named one recipient, with winners representing various high schools throughout the state.
The eight districts include Northwest, North Central, Northeast, Central, Southeast, South Central, Southwest, and West River. Recipients advance to compete for the state Star Greenhand award, which will be announced at the South Dakota FFA State Convention in 2026.
FFA is a national youth organization that prepares students for leadership and careers in agriculture, science, and technology. The South Dakota FFA has over 5,000 members across more than 100 chapters statewide.
