PUTRAJAYA, May 8 β Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar today announced six new appointments and placements involving top management positions in the civil service. The changes, effective Monday (May 11), involve the appointment of new secretaries-general for several ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
The government stated that these moves are part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and integrity within the civil service. The appointments were made following a thorough evaluation process to ensure the best candidates are placed in key leadership roles.
Among the notable appointments is Datuk Seri Isham Ishak as the new Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, replacing Tan Sri Alwi Ibrahim who has retired. Datuk Seri Mohd Shahar Abdullah has been appointed as the Secretary-General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, while Datuk Seri Dr. Zaini Ujang will lead the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
The Chief Secretary expressed confidence that the new appointees will contribute to the government's reform agenda and improve service delivery to the public. The changes are part of a broader rotation and promotion exercise within the civil service.
