According to the High Commission for Planning (HCP) report "Comptes régionaux 2024," three regions of Morocco—Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima—accounted for more than 58% of the national GDP in 2024. This concentration underscores significant spatial and regional disparities in wealth creation.
The report, published in 2026, highlights that Casablanca-Settat alone contributes about 32% of the GDP, followed by Rabat-Salé-Kénitra with 14% and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima with 12%. These figures reflect the economic dominance of the Atlantic coast and the northern region, while other areas, particularly in the south and interior, lag behind.
HCP officials noted that the disparities are driven by factors such as industrialization, services, and foreign investment, which are concentrated in these regions. The report calls for policies to promote balanced regional development and reduce inequalities.
This trend has persisted over the years, with the same three regions consistently leading in GDP contribution. The HCP recommends targeted investments in infrastructure and education to foster growth in less-developed regions.
