A financial dispute emerged between the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and its national team players following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The conflict centered on unpaid qualification and participation bonuses promised to the squad.
Reports confirmed that the Senegalese players, including star forward Sadio ManΓ©, threatened to boycott a post-tournament friendly match against Morocco in protest. The issue was linked to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Morocco 2025, which was responsible for distributing certain funds to participating nations.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) intervened to resolve the impasse. FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa communicated with FSF President Augustin Senghor and facilitated the immediate payment of the outstanding amounts to the Senegalese players, ensuring the friendly match proceeded.
The incident highlighted ongoing financial tensions in African football but was resolved through federation diplomacy. No formal complaints were filed with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the matter.
