The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is formally appealing the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to strip Senegal of its hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). The FSF's legal team held a press conference this week to outline its case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAF announced the reallocation of the tournament to Morocco in late 2025, citing significant delays in Senegal's infrastructure preparations. The continental body had expressed concerns over the progress of stadiums and other key facilities during an inspection visit.

The FSF's appeal argues that the decision was unjust and that Senegal was making progress on the required projects. A ruling from CAS is expected in the coming months, which will determine the final host nation for the 2025 tournament.

This marks the second consecutive CAN hosting change, after Guinea was stripped of the 2025 rights in 2022. The situation leaves the 2025 tournament's venue uncertain pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
