The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has formally requested an investigation into the process that awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The call comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially designated Morocco as the host in September 2023, following the withdrawal of original host Guinea.

In a statement, the FSF expressed "serious concerns" and "suspicions of corruption" surrounding the selection procedure. The federation has urged CAF and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to open a transparent inquiry to examine the decision-making process.

CAF has not publicly responded to Senegal's specific allegations. Morocco was selected as the sole candidate after Algeria and Zambia withdrew their bids. The North African nation previously hosted the tournament in 1988 and is a frequent host of other CAF events.

The 2025 AFCON will be the first 24-team tournament held in Morocco. The controversy adds to existing tensions within African football governance, with past CAF officials having faced corruption investigations by FIFA's ethics committee.
