Senegal has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding a dispute with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The case stems from incidents during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, which Morocco won 2-1 against Senegal.

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is contesting the eligibility of a Moroccan player, alleging a violation of competition regulations. The FSF had previously lodged a protest with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which was dismissed, prompting the appeal to Lausanne-based CAS.

A CAS spokesperson confirmed receipt of the appeal but did not provide a timeline for the proceedings. The Moroccan federation has previously stated it respects CAF's original decision and is confident in its legal position.

The outcome of the arbitration could potentially affect the official standings of the tournament, though such reversals are rare in football jurisprudence. The dispute has heightened tensions between the two footballing nations following the closely contested final.
