On June 22, 2026, police in Cebu City conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sambag 2, resulting in the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) and the seizure of approximately ₱238,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine). The operation was carried out by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Drug Enforcement Unit.
The suspect, whose identity has not been fully disclosed pending investigation, was apprehended after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover officer. Authorities recovered several sachets of the substance, along with marked money used in the transaction.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect is listed on the drug watchlist and is considered a high-value target in the region's anti-drug campaign. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of ₱238,000, based on standard police valuation.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The CCPO continues its intensified operations against illegal drug trade in the city.
