The position was expressed by Saint Lucia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alva Baptiste, during talks with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.
The two officials met on Tuesday in New York, where the 78th session of the UN General Assembly is taking place. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, including the Moroccan Sahara dispute.
Saint Lucia's reiteration of support for Morocco's position aligns with the growing international recognition of Morocco's autonomy plan as a viable solution to the conflict. The Caribbean nation has previously expressed similar positions in international forums.
Morocco has consistently advocated for a negotiated political solution to the Sahara issue, based on its autonomy initiative. The support from Saint Lucia adds to a series of endorsements from various countries in recent years.
