President William Ruto hosted Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, at State House, Nairobi, on May 10, 2026. The visit comes ahead of the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level gathering focused on economic transformation and regional integration.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, and peace and security. President Bio is among several African heads of state and dignitaries attending the summit, which is co-hosted by the African Union and the Kenyan government.
The Africa Forward Summit aims to accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and address challenges such as infrastructure gaps, digital inclusion, and climate resilience. The summit is scheduled to take place in Nairobi from May 11 to 13, 2026.
