Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak met with Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil in Moscow on April 2, 2026, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the transport sector. The meeting was part of the 6th session of the Russian-Moroccan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

The officials discussed potential collaboration in railway infrastructure, port development, and logistics. Novak emphasized Russia's interest in strengthening its partnership with Morocco across various economic areas, including transport, as Russia continues to face international sanctions following its 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Morocco has maintained a neutral diplomatic stance regarding the Ukraine conflict. The North African kingdom has historically balanced relations with Western allies and partners like Russia, focusing on economic and technical cooperation in sectors such as energy, agriculture, and now transport.
