MANILA, Philippines β€” Ahead of the Holy Week exodus, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. conducted a personal inspection of security deployments in key areas of Metro Manila on April 2, 2026. The inspection aimed to ensure the readiness of police forces for the anticipated surge in travelers and religious gatherings.

According to a PNP news release, Nartatez visited the ParaΓ±aque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. He assessed the implementation of the PNP's 'Ligtas SumVac 2026' (Safe Summer Vacation) program, which focuses on crime prevention, traffic management, and public safety operations during the holiday period.

The police chief emphasized the importance of a visible police presence to deter criminal activity and assist the public. He directed personnel to maximize anti-crime efforts and ensure the security and convenience of commuters. The PNP has deployed thousands of officers nationwide as part of its security preparations for Holy Week.
