Former Vice President Mike Pence's conservative advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom (AAF), has released a new policy agenda aimed at addressing what it calls America's 'unaffordability crisis.' The plan, unveiled in August 2026, blames government policies for rising costs and proposes a series of deregulatory and tax-cutting measures.
According to AAF's report, the group recommends reducing federal regulations, cutting income and corporate tax rates, and expanding domestic energy production to lower prices. The agenda also calls for streamlining permitting processes for infrastructure projects and reducing healthcare costs through market-based reforms.
AAF officials argue that these measures would boost economic growth and help American families cope with inflation. However, critics contend that such policies primarily benefit corporations and the wealthy, and may not directly address the root causes of affordability, such as supply chain issues and wage stagnation.
The proposal comes as affordability remains a top concern for voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Pence, who has not ruled out a potential 2028 presidential run, is using the agenda to position himself as a policy leader within the Republican Party.
