AI tools for coding, design, and content creation are enabling these freelancers to increase their productivity and shift from offering hourly services to building and selling their own software, applications, and digital content. This trend represents a strategic move towards product ownership and scalable business models.
The government's 'Digital Pakistan' initiative and the establishment of the National Freelance Facilitation Center aim to support this growth by providing training and financial services. However, challenges such as inconsistent internet connectivity and access to international payment gateways remain hurdles for the sector's expansion.
Industry analysts note that this evolution could significantly boost export revenues and create more sustainable entrepreneurial ventures within the country's digital economy, moving up the value chain from execution to innovation.
