Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has launched a glamping pilot program in 2026, offering air-conditioned tents and other amenities at select state parks to attract newcomers to outdoor recreation.
The program, announced in early August 2026, includes sites at French Creek State Park and Ohiopyle State Park. The glamping tents feature beds, electricity, and air conditioning, providing a comfortable introduction to camping for those who may be hesitant to rough it.
DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said the initiative aims to break down barriers to camping, particularly for families and individuals without traditional camping gear. The pilot will run through the 2026 camping season, and officials will evaluate its success in drawing new visitors.
Reservations are being taken through the state's reservation system, with rates varying by location and season. The program is part of a broader effort to increase outdoor participation and connect more Pennsylvanians with the state's natural resources.
