Eddie Ilic, a 32-year-old former addict turned hairdresser, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Bath Spa University in recognition of his volunteer work providing free haircuts to homeless people.
Ilic, who struggled with addiction from the age of 12, has been sober for over a decade. He founded the 'Hair for the Homeless' initiative, which offers free haircuts and grooming services to rough sleepers across the UK.
The university praised Ilic's 'exceptional contribution to the community' during its summer graduation ceremonies. Ilic said he was 'overwhelmed' by the honour and hoped it would inspire others to support vulnerable people.
