Allegations of syndicated corruption, gross misconduct, and abuse of office have been leveled against Janephar Nantume Enguyu, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Nwoya District Local Government, according to a review of procurement and administrative reports.
The reports, which have not been publicly released, reportedly detail irregularities in the procurement of arms and other supplies. Enguyu is accused of interfering in the procurement process to benefit certain contractors, leading to inflated costs and potential misuse of public funds.
As of May 12, 2026, no formal charges have been filed, and Enguyu has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Inspectorate of Government and the Uganda Police Force are said to be investigating the matter.
Nwoya District, located in northern Uganda, has faced security challenges, making the procurement of arms a sensitive issue. The allegations have raised concerns about accountability in local government spending.
