The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has directed all federal government workers within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to work from home on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The directive was issued to ease traffic congestion and ensure security ahead of the National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The convention, where the party is set to elect its national officers, is scheduled to hold at the Eagle Square in the Central Business District of Abuja. In preparation, security agencies have announced the closure of all roads leading to the Federal Secretariat Complex and other critical areas around the convention venue.
A circular from the Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, confirmed the work-from-home order for Thursday. It stated that only staff on essential duties, who have been properly identified, would be allowed access to the secretariat. The measure is intended to guarantee a smooth and secure process for the high-profile political event.
The APC's national convention is a significant event in Nigeria's political calendar, drawing delegates and officials from across the country. Similar security and traffic management measures have been implemented for major political gatherings in the capital in the past.
