Netflix has shelved David Fincher's planned American spinoff of the hit series Squid Game, according to multiple reports. The project, which was in early development, will not move forward at the streaming giant.
Fincher, known for films like Se7en and The Social Network, had been attached to develop an English-language version of the Korean dystopian drama. However, sources indicate that the project has been put on hold indefinitely.
The director is now turning his attention to a new film starring Brad Pitt. Details about the project remain scarce, but it marks a reunion between Fincher and Pitt, who previously collaborated on Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Neither Netflix nor Fincher's representatives have commented publicly on the shelving. The original Squid Game remains one of Netflix's most-watched series, with a second season released in 2024 and a third expected.
