According to a report by the Ilham Centre, former Prime Minister Najib Razak has the highest social media reach among Malaysian politicians, while Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, the founder of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA), dominates engagement with Generation Z voters.
The study, conducted in early 2026, analyzed social media metrics including followers, interactions, and shares across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Najib's Facebook page, with over 5 million followers, was found to have the broadest reach, particularly among older demographics.
Syed Saddiq, however, leads in the 18-25 age group, with high engagement rates on Instagram and TikTok. His content, often focusing on youth issues and reform, resonates strongly with younger voters, according to the Ilham Centre's data.
The report highlights the growing importance of social media in Malaysian politics, with parties and politicians increasingly relying on digital platforms to connect with voters ahead of the next general election.
