Morocco's industrial landscape is diversifying beyond the historic Casablanca-Tangier axis, according to recent reports. New industrial zones in cities like Kenitra, Settat, and Berrechid are attracting investment, particularly in automotive and aerospace sectors.
The government's industrial acceleration plan, launched in 2014, has contributed to this shift, aiming to increase the industrial sector's share of GDP. By 2025, the plan had created over 500,000 jobs, with a focus on regional development.
Key projects include the Renault plant in Tangier and the Bombardier aerospace facility in Casablanca, but newer hubs like the Kenitra automotive cluster are gaining traction. The Atlantic Free Zone in Kenitra hosts companies like Leoni and Yazaki, producing wiring harnesses for export.
This decentralization is part of Morocco's strategy to reduce regional disparities and boost economic resilience. The country's industrial exports reached $40 billion in 2025, with automotive leading at $14 billion.
