Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, represented King Mohammed VI at the investiture ceremony of Djiboutian President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, who was re-elected for a fifth term. The ceremony took place in Djibouti City on May 8, 2026.
President Guelleh, 78, secured a fifth term in the April 2026 presidential election with over 95% of the vote, according to official results. His main opponent, Zakaria Ismail Farah, received less than 5%.
Bourita's presence underscores the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and Djibouti, particularly in diplomatic and economic cooperation. The two nations share membership in the African Union and the Arab League.
During his visit, Bourita also conveyed a message of congratulations from King Mohammed VI to President Guelleh, reaffirming Morocco's commitment to strengthening ties with Djibouti.
