The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially overturned its decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Morocco. The ruling, announced on March 18, 2026, reinstates the original result of the tournament final.

In a statement, CAF cited a procedural review of the initial protest that led to the "on-paper" victory. The governing body acknowledged an error in its earlier adjudication process, which had incorrectly stripped the original champion of its title.

The reinstatement concludes a controversial chapter that began after Morocco's football federation, led by president Fouzi Lekjaa, lodged a formal complaint regarding the final match. The original decision had briefly granted Morocco its second continental title.

CAF has stated that the matter is now closed and no further appeals will be entertained. The original champion has been formally confirmed as the 2025 AFCON winner.
