The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed Morocco as the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament, originally scheduled for 2025, was awarded to Morocco after Guinea was stripped of hosting rights due to infrastructure delays.

Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, currently playing for Saudi club Al Hilal, became one of the first Atlas Lions players to publicly react to the confirmation. He made his comments following Al Hilal's victory over Al Ahli in the semi-final of the Saudi King's Cup on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Bounou expressed pride in the national team's achievement, highlighting the significance of the continental title for Moroccan football. The official confirmation by CAF solidifies Morocco's status as the reigning African champion ahead of the next edition of the tournament.

The win marks Morocco's third AFCON title, adding to their previous victories in 1976 and 2004. The team's success is seen as a continuation of their strong performances in recent years, including a historic semi-final run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
