The 9th session of the Joint Committee overseeing the Morocco-United States Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was held in Rabat on May 11-12, 2026. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the agreement, which has been in force since 2006.
Discussions focused on trade and investment flows, market access, and ways to strengthen economic cooperation. The committee also addressed issues related to intellectual property rights, customs procedures, and technical barriers to trade.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the FTA, which has significantly boosted bilateral trade. According to the U.S. Trade Representative, two-way goods trade between the U.S. and Morocco reached $5.4 billion in 2025, a substantial increase from $1.3 billion in 2005, the year before the agreement took effect.
The meeting was co-chaired by Moroccan and U.S. officials. No specific new agreements or announcements were made public following the session.
