Morocco is preparing to introduce a new generation of biometric passports, according to official announcements. The new passports will feature enhanced security measures, including a polycarbonate data page and a contactless chip storing the holder's biometric data, such as fingerprints and facial image.
The initiative is part of Morocco's efforts to modernize its travel documents and meet international security standards. The new passports are expected to be issued starting in 2026, replacing the current biometric version.
The project is led by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with specialized companies. The new passport will have a validity period of 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors.
