On May 8, 2026, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita held talks with his Nigerien counterpart, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, in Rabat. The discussions focused on the Africa-Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, also known as the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline.
The pipeline, a strategic initiative supported by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), aims to transport natural gas from Nigeria through several West African countries to Morocco and onward to Europe. The project is expected to enhance energy security and economic integration in the region.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the pipeline's development. The meeting also covered bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
