Morocco's Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy has announced a new initiative to improve hotel quality by deploying mystery guests. The program aims to assess service standards in hotels across the country, particularly in popular tourist destinations like Marrakech, Agadir, and Fes.
According to official statements, the mystery guests will evaluate factors such as cleanliness, staff behavior, and overall guest experience. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost Morocco's tourism sector, which is a key economic driver. In 2025, Morocco welcomed over 14 million tourists, and the government aims to increase this number to 26 million by 2030.
The program will be implemented in collaboration with professional associations and tourism stakeholders. Hotels that fail to meet standards may face penalties or be required to undergo training. The ministry has not yet disclosed the exact number of mystery guests or the start date of the program.
