Morocco and India agreed on June 22, 2026, in New Delhi to expand their counterterrorism cooperation to cover illicit financial flows, criminal use of technology, and links between transnational criminal organizations and armed groups, according to official statements from both governments.
The decision was announced during the third session of the Morocco-India Joint Working Group on Counterterrorism, held in the Indian capital. The next session is scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco.
Both sides emphasized the need to address emerging threats, including the misuse of the internet and new technologies for terrorist purposes, as well as the financing of terrorism through informal channels. They also agreed to enhance information sharing and capacity building.
This expansion builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2022, which established the joint working group. The two countries have increasingly coordinated on security issues, particularly in the context of United Nations counterterrorism efforts.
