According to the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), box office revenue in Morocco reached nearly 130 million dirhams (MDH) in 2025, marking a significant recovery for the industry. This figure, reported by multiple local media outlets including Le Matin and Hespress, reflects a steady increase in audience attendance after the pandemic downturn.
The CCM data shows that Moroccan films accounted for a notable share of the revenue, with popular titles like 'Achoura' and 'Le Dernier Message' drawing large crowds. International blockbusters, particularly from Hollywood and Bollywood, also contributed to the total, with 'Avatar 3' and 'Dune: Part Two' being among the top-grossing films.
Industry experts attribute the growth to improved cinema infrastructure, including the opening of new multiplexes in Casablanca and Marrakech, as well as government incentives for local film production. The number of cinema screens increased by 10% in 2025, reaching over 200 nationwide.
However, challenges remain, including competition from streaming platforms and piracy. The CCM has launched anti-piracy campaigns and is promoting digital distribution to sustain the momentum. Overall, the 2025 box office results signal a positive trend for Moroccan cinema, with expectations of further growth in 2026.
