Morocco's Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), the kingdom's primary counter-terrorism agency operating under the supervision of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGSN), announced the dismantlement of a terrorist cell suspected of planning attacks and maintaining links to extremist organizations.
The BCIJ, which has been at the forefront of Morocco's counter-terrorism efforts for over a decade, carried out coordinated operations to arrest the suspects. The bureau regularly conducts such operations across multiple Moroccan cities as part of the country's proactive security strategy aimed at neutralizing threats before they materialize.
Moroccan authorities have consistently emphasized their zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. Since its establishment, the BCIJ has dismantled hundreds of terrorist cells and foiled numerous plots, making Morocco one of the most active counter-terrorism actors in the African and Arab regions.
The suspects are expected to face charges under Morocco's anti-terrorism legislation. Investigations remain ongoing to determine the full extent of the cell's activities, its financing sources, and any potential international connections to jihadist networks such as ISIS or Al-Qaeda affiliates.
