Morocco's Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, confirmed a record cereal harvest of 90 million quintals for the 2025-2026 agricultural season. The announcement was made during a press conference in Rabat on June 16, 2026.
The harvest includes 55 million quintals of soft wheat, 25 million quintals of durum wheat, and 10 million quintals of barley. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous season, which saw a harvest of 31 million quintals due to drought conditions.
Minister El Bouari attributed the record yield to favorable rainfall and improved agricultural practices. He noted that the government's support programs, including subsidized seeds and fertilizers, played a key role in boosting production.
The record harvest is expected to reduce Morocco's reliance on cereal imports and stabilize domestic prices. The ministry also plans to increase strategic grain reserves to ensure food security.
