As of 2025, Morocco's National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC) has granted 4,147 authorizations for the legal use of cannabis, primarily for medical and industrial purposes. This marks a significant step in the country's regulated cannabis industry, which was legalized in 2021 for such uses.
The permits cover cultivation, processing, and distribution, with a focus on export to international markets. The initiative aims to combat illegal trafficking while boosting economic development, particularly in the northern Rif region, a traditional cannabis-growing area.
According to ANRAC, the majority of permits were issued to cooperatives and small farmers, ensuring local communities benefit from the legal market. The agency continues to monitor compliance with strict quality and security standards.
