On April 24, 2026, Togo and Morocco signed a series of agreements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade, agriculture, and renewable energy. The signing ceremony took place in Lomé, Togo, during a visit by Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.
The agreements include a memorandum of understanding on agricultural development, focusing on modern irrigation techniques and training for Togolese farmers. Another accord covers the exchange of expertise in renewable energy, particularly solar power, where Morocco has significant experience.
Both nations also agreed to establish a joint business council to facilitate trade and investment between the two countries. Bilateral trade has grown steadily in recent years, reaching approximately $50 million in 2025, according to official figures.
This cooperation aligns with Morocco's strategy to strengthen ties with African nations, especially in West Africa. Togo, for its part, seeks to leverage Moroccan expertise to boost its agricultural productivity and energy transition.
