On July 16, 2026, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) held a board meeting chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa to initiate the mobilization of all relevant committees for the organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
The meeting, which took place at the FRMF headquarters in Rabat, focused on the creation of the 'Maroc 2030 Foundation' and the activation of various leagues and regional committees to ensure a coordinated preparation effort. Lekjaa emphasized the need for a comprehensive national strategy involving all stakeholders.
According to the FRMF, the discussions covered infrastructure development, training facilities, and logistical planning. The 2030 World Cup marks the first time the tournament will be held across three continents, with Morocco being the second African nation to host the event after South Africa in 2010.
